Information of Skin Tightening
Here we’re going to talk about the controversial subject of skin tightening and how you can do
that without any help from so-called professionals or even weight loss gurus that think that know it all. There is a science behind it but the
science is easy to understand, the only hard part is putting it into practice to get your skin tightened without the use of surgery, pills or
even doctor appointments.
There are almost as many people who ask about weight loss as people worried about loose skin.
In fact, many people are put of the whole idea of weight loss because they are simply worried about the unsightly loose skin that they think will
follow after it. We have all been programmed to believe that there really isn’t any cure to loose skin, the only way is to opt for surgery to
remove the access skin. I wouldn’t call this an outright lie but most of the time people who have these surgeries were chronically overweight and
have lost most of their skin elasticity due to having their skin excessively stretched for long periods of time. The damage to their skin has
already been done and very little of what I’m going to teach you here will help them. Most other people who are slightly overweight and are
scared of loose skin should not be afraid as skin is much hardier and ready to tighten when the situation comes.
The first thing to understand is that the skin is a living organ. In fact, it is the largest
organ in the human body. It is an adaptable organ which allows for stretching and shrinking with the changes in your body composition over the
span of your life. It is only in very extreme situations where the skin will not be able to cope with the reduction in supportive tissue and
shrink to compensate.
Most of the time when people complain about loose skin, they are actually complaining about the
layer of fat and skin which develops a rolled appearance after they loose substantial amounts of weight over a short time. The rolled appearance
is a mixture of fat and skin and isn’t actually all skin. The problem is that skin and fat must have somewhere to anchor too. With substantial
weight loss, especially with people who are already overweight to begin with, they will almost always loose as much muscle as fat. Since then
don’t have as much muscle to begin but lots of fat, their body composition ends up having a higher percentage of fat. This creates a situation
where you end up looking extremely soft. Compounded by the skin which has yet to react to the change in your body composition, you can look quite
terrible. But know this, the reason isn’t just your skin being loose, it’s the amount of fat that you still have on your body and also the amount
of muscles that you have lost.
Solving the Loose Skin Issue
You would probably know by now that I’m not a big fan of having surgery done unless it is
totally necessary. Most of the time people suffering from the syndromes of loose skin can get their tightness back simply by doing a few things
that people just don’t want you to know about. The first and most important thing to do is to strive to get as much body fat off. This may sound
counter intuitive but results have shown that this will bring the skin much closer to the body muscles leaving very little room for the “rolls”
to appear. As you loose body fat, the skin will automatically take up the new shape of the backing muscles and shrink accordingly to fit the
mould of the muscle. Remember that skin is very thin, just pinch the back the top of your feet for proof. Rolls are caused by access loose fat
and skin. Take away the fat and the skin has to form to the shape of the backing muscles which is always firm. Have you ever seen a lean person
with loose skin? It almost never happens.
We recommend that you look into our Fat Loss section to get a few
starting tips and programs on how to loose body fat while keeping muscles.
On the same subject, it also makes sense to develop as much muscles around the areas that you
might have problems with. An example of this is when overweight men loose weight and end up having a chest looking like a girl, again mostly to
do with loose skin and fat. You can develop the pectoral muscles to take up the volume of and also firm up the chest. You can be assured that
this works but again, in order to get the best results with the tightest skin possible, you need to loose body fat. This is key.
Skin Tightening Lotions and Potions
Lets be straight, most lotions and potions that claim to have an affect on your skin elasticity
are simply bogus. Some do indeed help with tightening the skin for example some acids etc that make the skin loose moisture will make your skin
look tighter for a short period but in the long run they only serve to damage your skin.
Some people are advocates of some salts that are said to mimic the sands and salts in the sea
which are also allegedly able to tighten loose skin. What salts do is very similar to acids in that it takes the water away from the skin thus
making it seem tighter for a few hours. After the skin has replenished its moisture levels, your skin will be back to where it started. In
addition you would have also damaged your skin by exposing it to high levels of salt.
There is no single rub-on potion or lotion that can make the rolls on your body disappear. Some
of these potions or lotions can reduce the elasticity of the skin for a short while by removing moisture in the skin but eventually the skin will
regain its moisture again and return to being “loose”. Some people have reported favorable results when they use moisturizers which again act on
the moisture of the skin. Instead of taking away the moisture, added moisture will increase the size of the cells in the skin thus making it
plumper. It works well to remove wrinkles for the short term but for anything near loose skin, it simply isn’t effective.
Skin Tightening Surgery
I am no big fan of surgery but if you have really lost a lot of weight then sometimes this is
the only way to proceed. This is only true if your skin has been stretched to such a high degree over the years that it has been damaged in terms
of its elasticity and can’t reduce itself to its original size without surgery. It has to be said that this situation only applies to extreme
weight loss patience that have lost about half of their weight in a short time frame. Most of us will never need this type of surgery.
Most weight loss journals or magazines, even professional trainers will often tell their
clients that loose skin is just a by-product of weight loss and that it can easily be removed with a few snips here and there. Don’t be fooled
into thinking that it is a small harmless procedure. The number of complication that can arise from the procedure are as dangerous and numerous
as any other large surgery. The risks just aren’t worth the trouble.
Before even considering loose skin surgery you must be absolutely sure that nothing else can be
done to naturally cure the problem. As mentioned earlier, most of the time what you would describe as loose skin is simply skin that hasn’t had
enough time to return to shape or is still covered by fat making you look all “rolly polly”. You must strive to get to exercise and diet your way
to at least 9% body fat content and build enough muscles before you can truly determine if you skin really is loose or if it’s just an
illusion.
Conclusion
Overall, we know that many people misdiagnose rolls after their weight loss as loose skin when
it actually is more to do with you reduced muscles and fat content rather then the skin. Surgery should be left for only the extreme cases and
most if not all people who are moderately overweight will have their skin return to its original shape when you loose your body fat
content.
